The BIG debate: Jay-Z vs YMCMB Who Is The Best Rapper Alive

This is the Big debate of late. Who started the war? who is the best rapper alive? and who will come out on top?

LegOooo on the debate Hov vs YMCMB after the jump!

OK lets take this slow bit by bit and dissect this beef with a time line of event.

Jay-Z Co-signs Drake

Drake hit the music scene in 2006 but it wasn't until 2009 that Jay-Z co-signs him as the next big thing to blow in hip hop, not only did Jay give Drake an opportunity to appear along side him on The Blueprint 3 but he also would speak about drake during various radio appearances so much so that people felt at the time he was showing more love to Drake than his own Roc Nation signee JCole

Drake fires shots at Jay-Z and Kanye West

After being co-signed into the game by Jay-Z a pioneer figure in hip hop and also having Kanye West direct your first video (Best I Ever Had)  and put you on the remix to a track of his 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' album (All Of The Lights) why did Drake feel the need to take shots at the throne back in 2010?

To me this is where it all began if you notice carefully since this event Kanye has been subliminally firing back (See: Deuces Remix, Otis and H.A.M)

Baby fires shots at Jay-Z

In 2009 Jay-Z had a great year, not only was he named hip hop cash king in October 2009 by Forbes.com with and estimated 35M earnings he was also named Hottest MC in the game by MTV

Birdman responds to Jays achievements:

Salty? I think so i mean his comments made no sense if Forbes have listed Jay-Z as the highest earner in rap in July 2009 how had Wayne made more that year? i mean was he not paying taxes or what, but Men lie Women lie number don't.

Jay-z Responds for the first time

Jay decided to respond to Baby on the track H.A.M January 2011 from the album 'Watch The Throne' feat Kanye West where he spits the lyrics

Really, you got baby money. Keep it real with n-ggas, N-ggas ain’t got my lady money

Now what amazes me is that this is a clear indication that Jay-Z responded as apposed to firing the first shots which people keep saying is the case and now you can see here that clearly that is not the case.

Lil' Wayne responds for baby

Lil' Wayne decides to jump into the ring to defend his father figure Baby on the most talked about Carter IV track 'Im Good' Feat Drake and JadaKiss where he spits:

Talkin’ bout Baby money, I got ya baby money, Kidnap yo bitch, get that how much you love yo lady money, I know you fake n***a, press yo breaks n***a…

These lyrics set the Internet on fire with many people confused how and where this started and many people anticipating Jay-Z's response to the Young Money Cash Money camp. Lil' Wayne had this to say following the media hype surrounding the track.

I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did, I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction. I’m not going to say I don’t know what would happen before I even say [something on record]. I do know what will happen. I’m aware of it. But it is what it is,
Even Young Money artist Tyga had some choice words for Jay via his Twitter account while at the 2011 VMA Awards:
Tyga later deleted these tweets that night, I think he realized this is between the heavy hitters O_o

So who is the best rapper alive? Who will come out on top?

First of all ill start by saying Numbers do not lie many might say they did in this case but i ain't hearing that so kudos to Wayne for selling 1M copies of Tha Carter III in 2008 and 964,000 copies of Tha Carter IV in 2011. These are impressive sales figures for hip hop music and especially in today's climate when records really are not selling but is this enough to warrant Wayne as the best rapper alive? I really don't think so Jay-Z might be over the 40 age but he is still a lyrical beast in todays market and this is the reason that has propelled him to an Iconic position globally. Jay-Z's career is one for the books and one that every rapper looks to for the blueprint.
Jay-Z now has more number 1 albums than both the Beatles and Elvis and all of his studio albums have debuted at No.1 on the billboard 200, Wayne still has a long way to go until he reaches the level of Jay both business wise and lyrically. Many could disagree with this but I read a quote on twitter last week that would sum-up that debate.

"When Wayne drops bars you listen and you say, I get it but when Jay drops bars it can take you anywhere from 6 months to a year to figure out what or who he's talking about"
Out of these two currently JAY-Z is the Best Rapper Alive!

But lets not forget Em!

Say Somethin'
